FAQs
-
Truck drivers can usually deduct the cost of a driver’s medical exam as an eligible business expense when filing taxes with the CRA.
If you’re a self-employed truck driver or an owner-operator, you may claim it under medical or employment-related expenses.
If you are employed by a company, check with your employer or a tax professional to see if your exam cost qualifies for reimbursement or a deduction.
-
The government will send you a notice and a blank medical report form in the mail 3 months before your medical report is due. You can also download a copy here.
Bring this form to us when you arrive for your exam—we’ll complete it, sign it, and return it for you. You’ll also get a copy of the completed form for your records.
